UBFQQIOQOBachelor's degree

Section of Organic Chemistry

Department of Inorganic and Organic Chemistry

Degree in Chemistry

Modern chemistry is the study of the composition, structure and properties of substances together with their transformations. In the course of their work chemists use a wide range of resources, from sophisticated quantum mechanical models of matter to highly specialized experimental work in the laboratory. Chemistry plays a key role in the modern world and is one of the branches of science that contributes most to the quality of life in developed countries. Nowadays very few areas of science, technology or industry do not involve chemistry either directly or indirectly.

The Degree in Chemistry that the Faculty of Chemistry of the UB offers is designed to provide a solid foundation in the most important component areas of Chemistry such as Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry and Physical Chemistry, which are key to the study and management of the environment, the idscovery and application of new materials and in drug discovery and development. Its general character is designed to provide qualified professionals with the knowledge necessary for careers in the chemical industry and in educations as well as in related fields.

The Organic Chemistry Section participates actively in the teaching of the Degree in Chemistry and is responsible for all courses relating to Organic Chemistry. It also participates in the teaching of other Degree-level courses that are not exclusively concerned with Organic Chemistry. For more information go to the Degree in Chemistry web pages.
